Name: Rayne Ames Door: Door Pass - Dominant Canon: Mashle: Magic and Muscles Canon Point: S2 E20 Age: 18 Appearance: Rayne Ames History: wiki CR AU (Optional): n/a Personality: (+) Protective: When Rayne cares about someone, he cares deeply. This is shown only when he decides he cares for someone or has an interest in them, not in any words but in his actions, to protect them. The biggest reason that Rayne wanted to become a Divine Visionary was to allow him to create a better world for orphans, that would be fair to people who were orphaned like him and his brother, Finn. This was the reason that he distanced himself from Finn, because he was afraid about the societal backlash that could be pitted against him and his brother. By distancing himself from Finn, he protected him from that potential backlash, without allowing Finn to make a decision in the matter. Another example would be when Rayne fights against Margarette Macaron, a magic user who rivals his own power, all to protect Mash Burnedead, someone who he is interested in. He’s quoted as saying: “I’ll make sure that brazen kid goes as far as he can.” during that fight, talking about Mash. (-) Merciless: Rayne doesn’t hold back when he fights, being as cruel as he needs to finish a job, get information he needs, or to make a point. He shows no sympathy or mercy in his battles and in his conversations with others. During his fight with the Fourth Fang of Magia Lupus, Milo, Rayne is seen kicking Milo over and over even though Milo was surrendering, telling him that “the only way scum like you will learn is through pain, pain so excruciating that he'll never make the same mistake twice.” He tells his brother and a friend of his to leave while he continues torturing Milo for information, despite Milo being a fellow student who already surrendered to him. (-) Serious: Rayne is extremely serious, to the point where he doesn’t say anything that isn’t important to say. He dislikes wasting time on the unimportant details. In everything he does, Rayne lives by the phrase “Say what you want”. This shows through in his serious attitude, where he speaks his mind without caring if what he’s saying will hurt someone else, or whether he’s “right” or “wrong”. He does his best to complete the tasks he’s given by his elders without fail, taking every mission as seriously as possible. This includes going to help Mash and his friends during the Magia Lupus arc. He also goes above and beyond following Mash when Mash heads home, taking his task of looking out for Mash to an extreme degree. (-) Detached: Hand in hand with Merciless would be how Detached Rayne is. He very rarely shows any of his emotions, keeping them a secret from even his brother. Rayne pushes his brother away under the excuse to protect him, running from his problems by burying his emotions so deep that he, too, can’t really tell what he’s feeling anymore. Every conversation that Rayne has is focused on the facts of the situation instead of the emotions of it. There's nothing to do regarding emotions, as emotions are useless to focus on to him. They're little more than just a distraction, especially when they hold you back from getting your job done. Video examples: (spoilers for rayne moments) this and that Powers and Abilities: Magic in the MASHLE world - Each person in the MASHLE world can use magic, aside from Mash. This magical gift is seen as something given to humans by the Gods and is represented by lines on their faces that they’re born with. There are three types of magic users, which is dependent on how many lines you have. People with one line are weaker than people with two lines, and people with two lines are weaker than people with three. Having more than one line is seen as rare, generally, with three lines being the rarest. Magic users can develop a new line as their magic grows, but generally their power level is capped at birth. Rayne was born with two lines and is the youngest person to acquire three. His magic level is pretty strong, considering he’s a three liner. Each magic user has what’s called their “Personal Magic” and is capable of casting “Basic Magic” spells. Basic Magic - This page here gives some information about some of the basic magic that’s been shown in the anime and manga. In MASHLE, magic users all can do some basic spells such as moving objects, revealing magically hidden doors, opening locks, inducing sleep, basic short distance teleportation, changing one object into another / transformation magic, and a spell to communicate with animals telepathically. Magic users tend to only be able to use these spells by chanting a word and casting the spell through their wand. Personal Magic: Partisan - Rayne’s personal magic has several stages to it. As a whole, this magic allows him to summon and manipulate a number of swords at will. These swords are very fast and extremely destructive. Three Percept Partisan: Rayne summons three swords at once and launches them at his target. Ten Percept Partisan: Rayne summons ten swords at once and launches them at his target. Partisan Surf: Rayne summons a large levitating sword and rides on it at high speeds. Rapid Partisan: Rayne summons several swords and launches them at his target in succession. Large Partisan: Rayne summons a single giant sword and strikes his opponent with it. Summon: Ares - As a triple-liner, Rayne has the ability to call upon a god's strength from within his wand. He calls forth the god of war, Ares. His wand transforms into a black trident, giving him god-like power. By summoning Ares, Rayne's magic becomes darker and much more powerful than before and his regular spells become as powerful as Secondth Magic spells. Black Partisan: After summoning Ares, Rayne unleashes a massive amount of Black Magic in the shape of a sword, sending it flying towards his enemy. NOTE: Rayne is unlikely to use his Personal Magic against people who can’t use magic unless absolutely necessary to protect himself or someone he cares about. He is only a cruel person when it comes to people he sees as his enemies and doesn’t tend to hurt people for the hell of it. His personal magic isn’t something that is extremely important to who he is, it’s just something that makes him a very strong caster. He’s considered the Sword Cane Divine Visionary or the War Divine Visionary, due to the sheer power of his abilities. But, frankly, I probably won’t be using them at all in RP and completely understand if they’re restricted or closed off for game purposes. Potions - At Easton Magic Academy, each student is required to learn the basics of potion making. This involves memorizing ingredients for different alchemical and magical blends. Every student has to learn this skill. Rayne excels in all of his studies. He’d be able to craft most potions or different alchemical mixes from memory. Fortune Telling - This is Rayne’s worst subject. We aren’t shown what exactly this class entails, but it can be assumed things like astrology, tarot, and reading tea leaves as well as other divination methods have been learned through this coursework. Keen Intellect - Rayne is very calculating and perceptive, seeing through multiple lies and an enemy’s disguise within the show. He can determine someone’s threat level after inspecting them for a while. Enhanced Endurance - Rayne has incredible levels of endurance, able to withstand more than most. He’s also very stubborn when he believes he can succeed in something, using his power to try and get what he wants. Inventory: His wand and two of his pet rabbits - Usako and Usami.
